The band Elimi was born in 2019 among a group of friends and fellow musicians, all students of the “A. Scontrino” Conservatory of Trapani.

Having started out with a nu-jazz sound, the band now presents a style characterised by a fluid, contemporary sound that blends jazz, soul, afrobeats and rock, with groove at the heart of their musical identity. The name draws inspiration from the ancient Elymians, the historical inhabitants of western Sicily.

The band features Grazia Buffa on vocals, Giovanni Balistreri on tenor sax, Francesco Di Giovanni on guitar, Vito Vulpetti on electric bass, and Roberto Provenzano on drums.

In 2019, the band took part in the “International Jazz Day”, the “Festival Nazionale dei Conservatori” in Frosinone, and the “Premio Nazionale delle Arti” in Naples.

From the Neapolitan experience comes the idea to record an EP of unreleased tracks, entitled NEXT STOP, later published in February 2020 and presented with a live session at the Eliodoro Sollima Theatre in Marsala.

The EP is entirely instrumental and with a different line-up, but it is in the summer of 2020 that the band’s turning point occurs: the band members decide to add Grazia Buffa’s sumptuous “voice” to their sound.

In August 2020, they were the winners of the “Sicily Jazz Academy Contest” in Acireale.

In 2021 they performed at the “Sicily Jazz Festival” at the “Chiesa dello Spasimo” in Palermo, they took part in and won the “Tomorrow’s Jazz” – Veneto Jazz – award at the “Sale Apollinee” of the “La Fenice” Theatre in Venice.

In summer 2022 they will participate in the “16th Bucharest International JAZZ. Competition” – EUROPAfest – at “Sala Auditorium MNAR – Palatui Regal” in Bucharest, Romania.
